Careers at Kids World Paediatric Therapy
Interested in Joining Kids World?
Kids World Paediatric Therapy is always interested in hearing from experienced paediatric occupational therapists and speech pathologists who share our values and approach to working with children and families.
Even when we are not actively advertising a specific position, we welcome expressions of interest from clinicians who are passionate about paediatric practice and would like to explore opportunities to become part of our team.
About Kids World Paediatric Therapy
Kids World is a private paediatric occupational therapy practice in Lane Cove, Sydney, supporting children and young people aged 0–18 years and their families.
Our approach is strengths-based, neuro-affirming and relationship-focused. We recognise that every child has an individual developmental profile and aim to understand the underlying reasons for challenges with regulation, communication, participation and everyday activities.
Our therapists also work closely with parents and carers, helping them develop an understanding of their child's individual needs and practical strategies that can support their child beyond the therapy room.
Our DIR® Approach
The DIR® model (Developmental, Individual-differences, Relationship-based) is central to the way we work at Kids World.
Our therapists consider each child's Functional Emotional Developmental Capacities (FEDCs), individual sensory and motor processing differences, interests and relationships when planning and providing therapy.
Rather than focusing solely on skills or behaviours, we seek to understand the "why" behind what we are seeing and use relationships and each child's individual interests to support regulation, engagement, communication, problem-solving and participation.
Clinicians joining Kids World have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and practical application of DIR® within paediatric practice.
Clinical learning is supported by Kids World Director Georgina Ahrens, a DIR®/Floortime Trainer and Profectum Foundation Associate Faculty member.

Professional development
-

-
Flexibility to support work-life balance

We value clinicians who are curious, reflective and interested in understanding each child as an individual.
Experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapists
We are always interested in hearing from occupational therapists with paediatric experience who are looking for an environment where they can continue to develop their clinical skills.
Our occupational therapists work across areas including sensory processing, emotional regulation, motor planning, executive functioning, self-care, social participation, independence and participation in everyday life.
Depending on experience and interests, there may also be opportunities to become involved in assessments, Social Setting Therapy, school holiday Intensive Therapy Programs, school and preschool consultations and Functional Capacity Assessments.
Speech Pathologists
Although Kids World does not currently provide speech pathology services, we are interested in hearing from experienced paediatric speech pathologists who may be interested in future opportunities with Kids World.
We particularly welcome conversations with speech pathologists whose approach aligns with our strengths-based, neuro-affirming and relationship-focused philosophy and who are interested in working collaboratively within a DIR®-informed environment.
An expression of interest does not need to relate to a currently advertised position. We are happy to have a conversation about whether there may be an opportunity that is a good fit for both the clinician and Kids World.
Professional Development and Support
Professional learning is an important part of working at Kids World.
Kids World Director and Occupational Therapist Georgina Ahrens provides clinical leadership, mentoring and professional development within the practice. Georgina is a DIR®/Floortime Trainer and Profectum Foundation Associate Faculty member, with extensive experience supporting clinicians to deepen their understanding and application of developmental, sensory and relationship-based practice.
Our aim is to provide an environment where clinicians can continue to develop their knowledge, reflect on their practice and feel supported when working with children with complex developmental needs.
