About Kids World Paediatric Therapy:

The clinic is a centre based private practice located in Lane Cove which offers occupational therapy services. Kids World’s Director, Georgina Ahrens, established the clinic in 2003 when she returned from the US bringing the DIR® Floortime™ model of therapy to Australia.

Georgina is recognised as a master clinician and her team of therapists are all extensively trained and experienced in this model of therapy. Therapists focus on developing the child’s ability to relate and communicate with others by addressing their underlying individual processing profile and developing a child’s functional emotional milestones.

DIR® Floortime™

DIR®/Floortime Model is the developmentally appropriate, relationship-based approach that has been developed by Stanley Greenspan MD, and Serena Wieder, PhD. This treatment approach focuses on identifying the individual differences of the child. The goal is to assist parents in developing an understanding of how to promote and develop a continuous back and forth flow of interactions with their child. The DIR®/Floortime Model focuses on ‘Developmental levels’ which are the six core capacities of Functional Emotional Development, the ‘Individual Differences’ of the child in their processing capacities and the ‘Relationship’ which is necessary for creating our learning interactions.

The Team

Kids World therapists are offered weekly mentoring as well as opportunities to work collaboratively with other team members to solve their clients’ challenges. The team is fun and hardworking and enjoys a unique rapport with each other, clients and their families.
