Professional development, clinical supervision and mentoring are provided by Georgina Ahrens, Occupational Therapist, DIR®/Floortime Trainer and Profectum Foundation Associate Faculty member.

Georgina has extensive experience in paediatric occupational therapy and supports professionals to deepen their understanding and practical application of developmental, individual-differences, relationship-based and neuro-affirming approaches.

Private Workshops for Professionals

A private workshop can be customised to meet your specific training needs and can be presented at your location. These workshops offer a collaborative and supportive learning environment to help your team enhance their practice, and support children in meaningful ways.

Your private workshop can include:

• Introduction to the DIR® Floortime Model: Explore the principles of this relationship-based, developmental approach to understanding and supporting children’s unique ways of communicating and interacting.

• Understanding Individual Processing Profiles: Gain insights into how each child’s unique processing profile shapes their experiences and responses. Learn to analyse these profiles to tailor your interactions and interventions in a way that respects and supports each child’s neurodivergent identity.

• Overview of the Functional Emotional Assessment Scale (FEAS): Explore how the FEAS can be used to consider a child's Functional Emotional Developmental Capacities, identify strengths and areas requiring support, and inform therapeutic thinking.

• Case Analysis Using Session Videos: Bring your own clinical experiences into the workshop! We can review and analyse videos of your sessions to deepen your understanding of the DIR® Floortime principles and develop personalised therapy strategies that are aligned with each child’s needs and strengths.

 

These workshops are designed to empower professionals to create affirming and individualised support plans, promoting a holistic understanding of each child’s unique profile and fostering environments where they can thrive.

Clinical Supervision and Mentoring

Georgina Ahrens also provides clinical supervision and mentoring for paediatric occupational therapists who want to deepen their clinical reasoning and build confidence in supporting children with developmental differences.

​

Supervision is tailored to the therapist’s level of experience, area of practice and professional goals. It provides an opportunity to reflect on clinical work, explore complex cases and strengthen the practical application of relationship-based, developmental and neuro-affirming approaches.

Clinical supervision and mentoring may include:

​

• Case discussion and clinical reasoning: Explore complex presentations, therapy priorities and intervention approaches.

• DIR®/Floortime in practice: Develop a deeper understanding of the DIR® model and how its principles can be applied within everyday occupational therapy practice.

• Understanding individual differences: Consider sensory processing, regulation, motor planning, communication and other individual differences that influence a child’s participation and development.

• Video review and reflection: Review therapy footage to explore interactions, identify opportunities for development and refine therapeutic strategies.

• Professional development and mentoring: Support therapists to build confidence, develop their clinical skills and reflect on their ongoing professional growth.

Supervision can be arranged for individual therapists or small groups and can be provided on an ongoing or occasional basis.
