Meet Georgina Ahrens

Director & Occupational Therapist

Georgina Ahrens is the Director of Kids World Paediatric Therapy and an experienced paediatric occupational therapist with a passion for helping children, families and professionals better understand child development. She believes that every child has unique strengths and that meaningful progress begins by understanding the "why" behind behaviour.

Through a neuro-affirming, relationship-based approach, Georgina works collaboratively with children, families, educators and other professionals to support participation, confidence and independence in everyday life. Her clinical practice is guided by the DIR®/Floortime model, recognising the important roles that relationships, sensory processing, emotional regulation and development play in a child's ability to learn and thrive.

Georgina's Areas of Expertise

Georgina has extensive experience supporting children and young people with:

  • Autism

  • ADHD

  • Sensory processing differences

  • Emotional regulation challenges

  • Social communication and social participation

  • Executive functioning

  • Motor coordination and developmental differences

  • Self-care and daily living skills

  • Functional Capacity Assessments (FCA)

  • Transition planning for adolescence and adulthood

Understanding the "Why" Behind Behaviour

One of Georgina's core beliefs is that behaviour is a form of communication.

Rather than focusing solely on changing behaviour, she works to understand the factors contributing to a child's challenges. By considering each child's developmental profile, sensory processing, emotional regulation, relationships, communication and environment, Georgina develops individualised therapy that addresses underlying needs and supports meaningful participation in everyday life.

This philosophy underpins the work of the entire Kids World team.

Professional Development, Training and Supervision

Georgina is committed to lifelong learning and regularly undertakes professional development to ensure children and families receive evidence-informed, contemporary occupational therapy.

In addition to supporting children and families, Georgina provides professional development workshops, supervision and mentoring for occupational therapists, educators and early childhood professionals. She enjoys sharing practical, relationship-based strategies that help others better understand child development and participation.

Clinical Leadership

As Director of Kids World Paediatric Therapy, Georgina provides clinical leadership across the practice. She mentors the occupational therapy team through regular supervision, professional development and collaborative case discussions, helping to ensure families receive consistent, high-quality care regardless of which therapist they see.

Qualifications and Professional Memberships

Georgina is an AHPRA-registered Occupational Therapist and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of professional practice through ongoing education and membership of relevant professional organisations.

Include your qualifications, registrations, certifications, professional memberships and advanced training here, including DIR®/Floortime credentials, Occupational Therapy Australia membership, Safe and Sound Protocol, Rest & Restore Protocol and other postgraduate training.

Presentations and Community Education

Georgina regularly presents to parents, preschools, schools and health professionals on topics including child development, sensory processing, emotional regulation, participation and understanding the "why" behind behaviour. She is passionate about helping families and professionals feel confident in supporting children to reach their full potential.

Meet Our Occupational Therapy Team

While Georgina provides clinical leadership across Kids World, therapy is delivered by a highly skilled team of occupational therapists who share the practice's neuro-affirming, relationship-based philosophy. Every therapist participates in ongoing mentoring and professional development to ensure children and families receive thoughtful, individualised care.

We invite you to meet the rest of our occupational therapy team and learn more about the experience and interests each therapist brings to Kids World.
